Gabi Simpson

Revered by coaches and teammates for her game-changing skill and adored by supporters for her infectious energy, the three time Firebirds Fans' Player of the Year has established herself as the country's premier wing defense.

Gabi cemented her spot in Firebirds folklore with a legendary double extra time intercept in the 2016 ANZ Championship grand final. The grab set teammate Romelda Aiken up to ice the game and bag Queensland a historic back-to-back championship win.

Gabi's leadership prowess was recently recognised with her appointment to the Vice Captain role of the Australian Diamonds. In 2017, Gabi was awarded the Liz Ellis Diamond, the award given to Australia's best player of the year. This award is continually validated through her performance on and off the court. Gabi is the highest ranked wing defence over a number of key statistics and has been an integral member of the Firebirds through out every game of the season.
