As a kid from the bush, Scott was a tough youngster determined to work as hard as needed to reach his cycling goals. It wasn't long before his strong-minded and gritty nature took Scott to the top of Australian Cycling at the young age of 19, by winning the National Championships.
Scott's next step was into the professional world of cycling where he became a trusted domestic, riding for the superstars of the cycling world. Cycling champions such as Stephen Rooks, Dimitri Konychev, Robert Millar, Jesper Skibby, Andrei Tchmil and Chris Boardman all benefited by having Scott by their side.
As a more seasoned pro, Scott went on to share his experience with the younger generation of professional cyclists and in doing so helped Magnus Backstedt ride to victory in the biggest and toughest of classics, Paris-Roubaix.
As a highly respected, tactical rider with natural leadership skills, it was only natural that Scott's next destination was in team management. Scott's first team role was as Sports Director with Bjarne Riss and the mighty CSC squad. Scott's success was immediate as he guided the team to consecutive victories in Paris-Roubaix. Scott's leadership impact was also felt in the Grand Tours as he joint-directed the CSC-Saxo Bank team and Carlos Sastre to conquer the top of the podium in the 2008 Tour de France. In 2011 Scott decided it was time for a new challenge and he accepted the Sports Manager's position win the newley formed Professional British Cycling Team "SKY". His foundation work with Team Sky laid a performance and cultural legacy that has made Team Sky arguably the most dominant Grand Tour team in recent times.
It was 2012 when Scott returned to Australia to spend more time with his young family, he is currently a regular guest commentator on the SBS Cycling coverage and also holds down the position as Race Director for the National Road Championships. His depth of knowledge of cycling and business, places him in the absolute top tier of the industry. In addition, Scott's integrity and credibility makes him a very highly prized Adviser, Speaker and Ambassador to a broad church of sporting and business corporations.
